Additional Education and Resources
New to the IRB Review Process?
This 15 minute video covers the basics of IRB review and human subjects protections. It is appropriate for new researchers and students.
HSD frequently receives requests to give presentations to the UW research community and its affiliates. Honoring these requests is an important element of HSD’s researcher training program and an acknowledgement of HSD’s role in the overall mission of UW as an educational institution. However, HSD regrettably currently has limited resources for presentations and may not be able to honor all requests. Presentations to large groups and those completing IRB applications are prioritized.
Beginning in Spring Quarter of 2018, HSD is expanding its capacity to give presentations tailored to undergraduate classes and undergraduate research groups. Presentations are tailored to the needs of the group and can include a history of research ethics, current events in research with human subjects, and a 101 orientation to submitting for IRB review.

Attending an IRB Meeting
HSD frequently receives requests for students or trainees to observe IRB meetings as an educational experience.
Due to the ongoing, time-consuming transition to the Zipline system, HSD regrets that we will be unable to accommodate any request for students or UW visitors to observe an IRB meeting during the remainder of the 2017-2018 academic year.
