Jumpstart Research@UW

The University of Washington Office of Research and the Libraries offered an on-site workshop, Jumpstart Research@UW, to introduce new faculty from all three campuses to the UW research ecosystem. The workshop featured presentations and panel discussions with opportunities to connect with other new researchers and senior faculty from many disciplines. In addition to learning about the offices and resources that support research, panel discussions touched on topics such as publishing, increasing research visibility and impact, mentoring, opportunities for research collaboration, and support for specific research methodologies. Cyberinfrastructure Training Programs

Through the eScience Institute there are programs for training you and your students (including postdocs and research scientists) in computational techniques. To hear about new programs  and opportunities, including access to computing resources, sign up for the eScience mailing list at the eScience Institute

  • Office hours (year-round): drop-in (including virtual) consulting with data scientists and software engineers (cloud, ML, programming, NLP, databases)
  • Software Carpentry (4 per year): short courses introducing programming and software development processes for graduate students and beyond
  • Hackweeks (proposal driven): research-focused week-long events combining hands-on work with tutorials and presentations (neuro-, ocean-, geo-, astro-, …)
