NIH will stop posting notices in the NIH Guide for Grants and Contracts
On 8/15/2025, NIH announced they will stop posting Notices of Funding Opportunities in the NIH Guide for Grants and Contracts.
Beginning in October, at the start of the federal fiscal year 2026:
- All NIH Notice of Funding Opportunities (NOFOs) will remain searchable on Grants.gov.
- NOFOs will no longer be included in the weekly NIH Guide Table of Contents subscription emails.
- NIH recommends using the Grants.gov subscription services to receive notifications of new NIH funding opportunities.
- Review NIH’s Updates to Finding NIH Funding Opportunities and Information for more tips on finding and searching NIH NOFOs after 9/30/2025.
OSP Reminders for NIH Application Preparation
- We highly recommend you prepare your NIH applications in Grant Runner or NIH’s ASSIST.
- Grant Runner and ASSIST both automatically run NIH validation checks when an application is moved to “Ready for Submission” status.
- Grants.gov Workspace does not automatically run these NIH validations on an application.
- If you are preparing NIH multi-component applications, you must use ASSIST. Grant Runner and Grants.gov Workspace do not support these applications.
