The SAGE Suite

The SAGE Suite is the web-based system for supporting electronic Research Administration (eRA) at the University of Washington. The suite is comprised of three systems - SAGE, SPÆRC, and SERA - three views of a single database. Faculty, administrators, and staff submit funding applications and request advance budget numbers via SAGE. The Office of Sponsored Programs tracks and approves these requests via SPÆRC. The Grant and Contract Accounting office handles post-award functionality via SERA.

SAGE
SAGE - the System to Administer Grants Electronically - is the web-based system used by faculty, administrators and staff to submit funding applications for consideration and request advance budgets.
- The eGC1 - The electronic grants and contracts form used to administer the University's internal compliance process.
- eApprovals - A routing engine that electronically routes the eGC1 for approval by associated departments, colleges and the Office of Sponsored Programs.
- File Upload - Electronic attachment of files.
- Advance Budget Request - Online form to request advance budgets.
SPÆRC
SPÆRC - Sponsored Proejcts Administration and Electronic Research Compliance - is the web-based system used by the Office of Sponsored Programs to receive funding applications from campus users, process awards and record modifications to existing records.
SERA
SERA - System for Electronic Research Administration - is the web-based system used by the Grant & Contract Accounting office. Phase I supports the receipt of the Advance Budget Request form and Phase II (scheduled for late 2008/early 2009) will support the electonic account set-up process that includes passage of data from OSP to GCA.
