UW employees who use chemicals or chemical-containing products at any UW owned or leased facility are required to maintain chemical inventories in MyChem, the UW’s chemical tracking system. Recording all chemical inventories in MyChem is necessary for compliance with federal, state and local hazardous material regulations.
Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) maintains and provides access to the MyChem chemical inventory tracking system for UW employees. MyChem is a web-acessible database to manage chemical inventory, responsible contacts, and access Safety Data Sheets that describe the physical and health hazards of chemicals or chemical-containing products. Safety Data Sheets must be readily accessible to employees during all work shifts when chemicals are present in the work environment.
