Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) provides free consultation on biological safety cabinet selection, performance, decontamination, relocation and design. In addition, we certify biological safety cabinets to verify and ensure proper performance.
Type
Service: EH&S maintains a list of approved biosafety cabinets and we can help you select the appropriate cabinet for your research, evaluate the space you are considering, and determine if necessary ventilation and utilities are available. EH&S also provides:
– Annual testing and recertification of cabinets by a qualified technician
– Technical assistance if an alarm sounds or the cabinet appears to be not functioning properly
– Assistance with relocating a biosafety cabinet to the UW from another location
– Guidance on decontamination
