The Stroke & Applied NeuroScience (SANS) Center mission is to address fundamental challenges of stroke, cerebrovascular disease and other neurological disorders through multidisciplinary research, education and outreach. The SANS Center brings together talented researchers from across the many disciplines at the University of Washington and beyond to design and implement novel research and education that directly impacts clinical care and improves patient outcomes in stroke and other neurological disorders.
Our center itself is not yet funded, but the PI research conducted within the center is funded on behalf of: NIH, AHA, Stryker, Medtronic, Penumbra, Boston Neurosciences, the American Association of Neurological Surgery, The AVM and Aneurysm Foundation, The University of Washington Royalty Research Fund, and philanthropic support.
The Center Director reports to Richard G. Ellenbogen MD FACS, Theodore S. Roberts Professor and Chair, University of Washington Department of Neurological Surgery.
