Summary of the requirement
The Animal Welfare Regulations make it the responsibility of the institution to provide training and instruction on the duties and responsibilities of members of the IACUC. PHS Policy, as implemented by the Office of Laboratory Animal Welfare requires that the institution provide the resources and training to ensure that all members of the IACUC are adequately trained. Among other things, training must include information on protocol review, site visits and any special considerations regarding the animal care and use program.
