Description

The mission of the Center for Learning, Computing, and Imagination (LCI; pronounced “lacey”) is to strengthen ties between researchers and practitioners who are interested in how people learn computing. LCI serves and welcomes people from across the University of Washington and the Puget Sound Region.

Our vision is that LCI will function in a cross-campus manner similar to DUB, Digital Youth Lab, CREATE, and Tech Policy Lab:

  • Building inclusive community among people with shared interests to share new ideas, provide peer support, and coordinate action.
  • Hosting speakers or other visitors who can broaden our vision for the future of the field of computing education.
  • Creating a shared enterprise that is not owned by or siloed in any unit of campus.
  • Assisting with student recruiting by showcasing the breadth and depth of computing education activity and community at UW.
  • Providing a unified external identity for computing education activities on campus to support recruiting, fundraising, and other shared goals
  • Offer a central point of contact for expertise and consultation around learning computing for people on campus, the press, and policymakers.
