The distinguished faculty members of the College of Arts and Sciences, more than 900 strong, are the backbone of undergraduate education at the University of Washington. Among their achievements are a Nobel Prize in Physics, a National Book Award, seven MacArthur Foundation Fellowships, seventeen National Academy of Science memberships, twenty-seven American Academy of Arts and Sciences Fellowships, and 2,769 Distinguished Teaching awards.
