Crags Climbing Center offers over 5,000 square feet of climbing area with 23 top rope stations up to 44 feet in height with ~15 configured for lead climbing. There is a dedicated bouldering area with an average of 40 routes up at any given time, and rope routes range in difficulty from 5.6 – 5.13 with boulders from V0 – V8+.

All currently enrolled UW students & those with an active Rec Membership are able to purchase a day pass or Crags Quarterly Climb Pass.

Guests of current UW students and active Rec membership holders can purchase a Guest Pass (valid only for the day) to climb at Crags Climbing Center. The guest and their sponsor must be present at the time of purchase, however the sponsor does not need to remain at Crags. Be advised that sponsors are responsible for the actions of their guests while climbing at Crags.

**If you want to climb at Crags and have a financial need, consider applying to the Student Recreation Fund. Through the support of the Student Recreation Fund, UW Recreation provides awards each quarter to assist students in accessing our climbing gym. You may receive funding to cover up to 80% of the cost (up to $40 per quarter) and may be applied to the Crags Quarter Climbing Pass or Crags Quarter Equipment Pass.

Crags Policies & Procedures

  • Masks are encouraged but not required for all Individuals.
  • Personal water bottles are to be left in the Water Bottle Area near the door.
  • No food is allowed in the climbing area.
  • No loose chalk is allowed.
  • Liquid chalk is HIGHLY ENCOURAGED.
  • Crags lobby and high touch points will be cleaned at the end of every day!

We offer a small selection of climbing gear and supplies to keep you sending (from brands such as Petzl, Black Diamond, Asana), including chalk bags, reusable chalk socks, hold brushes, liquid chalk, chalk blocks, “How to Climb” books, and more. We also have Crags t-shirts in sizes from XS-2XL! Come to Crags to check out what we offer and chat with our friendly Crags staff about current prices!

Sales tax added where applicable. 

You will need your UW Husky ID card for purchases, but we accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and Husky Cards as a form of payment. We do not accept cash.

Insurance

UW Recreation does not provide accident or medical coverage for participants. It is recommended that participants obtain their own personal coverage.
