Jeffrey Wilkes

Jeffrey Wilkes, chair of FCTL

FCTL shall be responsible (as described in Section 42-33) for all matters of policy, both academic and non-academic, relating to improvement of teaching and learning in the university; including distance learning, educational outreach, and summer quarter, and the use of educational technology in instruction.

Chair: Jeffrey Wilkes, physics. Jeffrey Wilkes focuses on high energy neutrino and cosmic-ray astrophysics, accelerator studies of neutrinos and public outreach activities. He has authored or co-authored over 150 papers in peer-reviewed journals, edited several published conference proceedings, and holds a patent for a digital sonar system. Wilkes is faculty coordinator for the UW Physics Professional MS Degree program, and teaches hybrid online courses for continuing education students. He co-led WALTA, an outreach program that provided Seattle-area high schools with cosmic ray detectors. He has collaborated internationally throughout his career with colleagues in Japan, Sweden, Poland, Russia, Australia and many other countries.
