In 2016, the Rain City Send competition will host NC3 teams from around the region. It is open to all Pacific Northwest college students and UW Community members. For UW community (non-team) climbers wishing to compete, we will be holding 30 spots open. Please see below for all event details and registration information.

  • Date: Saturday April 30th, 2016
  • Cost is $27.40 (tax included) per climber
  • The competition is redpoint format.
  • Climbers are allowed up to 5 attempts on as many boulder problems and rope routes as they can climb during their assigned heat.
  • Climbers will score a sum of their 3 highest scoring boulder problems and 2 highest scoring rope routes.
  • Incomplete scorecards will be ruled ineligible.
  • There is a 50 point flash bonus for climbers who climb a problem/route on their first try.
  • Final category placement is determined solely on scores. More details here.
  • The top 3 scoring competitors for both Women’s and Men’s will advance to Finals. Finals will compromise of one boulder problem, one lead route, and one top rope route.

NC3 Teams and Individuals:

Individual NC3 Competitor Registration Form – Team Registration Form

  • No day of registration!!!!!
  • Registration is by email only.
  • Total registration is capped at 130 climbers, so please register early. Spots are not guaranteed.
  • Team registration closes on Tuesday, April 26th at 12pm.
  • Teams, please only use the Team Registration Form (you do not need to fill out Individual Competitor forms for each team member).
  • Teams may only register 8 climbers until 12pm on April 22nd. At that point any additional spots will be released and teams may register up to 8 additional competitors on a first come, first served basis.
  • Heat information and day of logistics will be emailed out to teams and individual competitors by Thursday, April 28th.

UW Community Climbers (non-team members):

  • Register Online Here. In person and phone registration can be done at the Crags Climbing Center: 206-616-7229 or the IMA Programs Office: 206-543-2571.
  • Only 30 spots are reserved for UW Community Climbers so please register early.
  • UW Community Climber registration closes at 12pm on April 22nd.

Driving and Parking Information

Crags Climbing Center in the Intramural Activities Center (IMA)
3924 Montlake Blvd NE Seattle, WA 98195.

From I-5 (northbound or southbound)

  • Take exit 168B on the left for State Hwy 520 toward Bellevue/Kirkland
  • Merge onto WA-520 E
  • Take the Montlake Blvd exit
  • Turn left at E Montlake Pl
  • Turn right at Walla Walla Rd. (just past the IMA) for parking.

Ample parking will be available in the E-1 parking lot just north of the IMA.

Non-UW attendees

All guests to UW’s IMA will need to show their university ID and/or a driver’s license to gain entry to the building.
