Plans and procedures

In the case of an emergency, UW Emergency Management has plans and procedures to handle emergencies effectively. These plans have a consistent and clear view on how to approach and handle any emergency or disaster.

Why does the UW develop, review and update disaster plans and procedures?

Besides just being “common sense” and following good business practices in preparing for emergencies, disasters and crises, the UW is required by various federal, state and local laws to develop disaster plans, policies and procedures.  We also do planning in order to meet various accreditation requirements and for grant and contract compliance.  UW Emergency Management provides planning and technical support to UW Departments, units and stakeholders based on the direct authorities granted via two primary UW Administrative Policy Statements (APS):
