Officials

Sports officiating offers a fun, social environment and a flexible, on-campus work schedule. Training is provided by the intramural professional staff. UW students only, no prior officiating experience necessary.

Hiring for Intramural Soccer and Softball Officials.

 

OFFICIALS HIRING PROCESS

Officials’ Info Meeting: Thu. March 10, 6pm-7pm in person at the IMA Building Lounge

Priority Application Deadline: Thu. March 10, 11:59pm

Hiring Assessment:

  • Softball Assessment – Sun. March 13, 10am-12pm – IMA Turf Field #3
  • Soccer Assessment – Sun. March 13, 1pm-3pm – IMA Turf Field #1
    • Please bring a water bottle and wear athletic attire/gym shoes. Come ready to move!
    • If you are interested in officiating for both softball and soccer, you must attend both assessments

Applicants interested in learning more about officiating for Intramural sports should attend the Officials’ Info Meeting. The priority deadline to submit an application is Thu. March 10, 11:59pm. Applicants will be invited to the Hiring Assessment(s). The Hiring Assessment act as an applicant’s interview and must be attended to be considered for the position. Interested applicants who did not submit an application before the application deadline are welcome to come to the Assessment, however, an application must be filled out directly following the event if not already completed.

Hired officials must attend the required training clinics for their sport(s).


REQUIRED OFFICIALS TRAINING

Required officials training takes place within the first two weeks of the quarter. Trainings range from in the classroom to live game experience before leagues begin. Dates and times will be released after the hiring assessment.

Information covered in officials’ training is designed to help you become a better employee and official, and you are responsible for knowing the rules and basic mechanics. Officials training is intended to emphasize important aspects of the Intramural Program.

UW Recreation does not provide accident or medical coverage for participants. It is recommended that participants obtain their own personal coverage.
