Well, it’s been fun

By Chris Heiland

It is with mixed feelings that I write this, however I’m leaving the Marketing Web Team and the UW to pursue a new and exciting opportunity at a private company in the Downtown Seattle area. My time at the UW has been quite the journey. I started at UW Bothell, had my first web job working under Ian (the campus Web Wrangler), and then moved to a developer role for the first central web team at UW (i.e. the Marketing Web Team).

I’ve enjoyed many projects both with my team and with exceptional people around campus. Some of the highlights during my tenure at the UW include developing┬áthe initial iteration of the Campus Maps and getting the Web Services Registry off the ground. While Code Camp, Web Council and the initial Web Services Discussion Group are all examples of how we can learn from each other and better ourselves within the collaborative higher-ed world.

I’ve met amazing people and enjoyed the opportunities I’ve had over the course of my employment here, so it is with some sadness that I’m saying “goodbye.” I know the future will be different, but I always have my time at UW to remind me there are still awesome people out there. Thank you to everyone who has made working here fun and rewarding. And even without me, I know that the Web Team will still take good care of you. To that end, it’s time to say…

So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish!
