Hey, hey, we’re the Huskies

If you were on campus Friday, you might have noticed some activity over on Red Square. It was hard to miss the free treats from Top Pot Doughnuts, free Cupcake Royale ice cream, live music provided by KEXP, and all of the other exhibitions and activities throughout campus.

So what was going on? Why, HuskyFest 2013 and an Earth Day kick-off, you sillies. Check out the Web Team’s videos below to relive the festivities.

First up is a quick video made from footage shot by Kilian and masterfully produced by Katherine. There were so many activities Friday that we didn’t get footage from the Trashion Fashion Show and the evening events. But I think K&K captured the most important part: The unyielding Husky Spirit that doesn’t let mere rain spoil any fun.

Meanwhile, Starbucks and UW volunteers teamed up to weed, mulch and lay wood chip paths at the UW Farm, Center for Urban Horticulture and Seattle Youth Garden Works. The volunteer efforts were a joint celebration of Earth Day, Starbucks Global Month of Service and HuskyFest.

Footage and production are by Katherine, who has informed me that laying in the mulch was quite warm and comfortable.
