First day of Fall Quarter
wǝɫǝbʔaltxʷ Intellectual House

Welcome N8V Day is an event to greet and engage students at the start of the academic year. Students can connect with various student success support groups and learn about available resources. This kickoff event introduces wǝɫǝbʔaltxʷ Intellectual House as a place where students can discover, thrive, and find safety and community. Enjoy snacks and fun activities while you settle in for the upcoming school year!

Taking Back the Dinner

End of Fall Quarter
wǝɫǝbʔaltxʷ Intellectual House

Hosted by First Nations @ UW and wǝɫǝbʔaltxʷ Intellectual House, Taking Back the Dinner is both a celebration of empowerment for Native students and an educational experience about Thanksgiving for UW students. This event features traditional food, poetry, performers, and speakers.

Hosted by First Nations @ UW, the UW Annual Powwow is one of the largest student-run events.

Calling Home

Winter

Hosted by Student Veteran Life and wǝɫǝbʔaltxʷ Intellectual House, this ceremony is a recreation of the American Indian and Alaska Native traditions of greeting, celebrating, and calling home service members who have returned after serving their nations in the uniformed armed services. Join us and celebrate our Husky Veterans from all generations. Honor their service and welcome them home.

Living Breath of wǝɫǝbʔaltxʷ: Indigenous Food Symposium

This symposium brings people together to share knowledge on topics such as traditional foods, plants and medicines; environmental and food justice; food sovereignty/security; health and wellness; and treaty rights. This event serves to foster dialogue and build collaborative networks as we, Native peoples, strive to sustain our cultural food practices and preserve our healthy relationships with the land, water, and all living things.

šǝqǝd tiiɫ slǝʔibǝš Native Graduation Ceremony

wǝɫǝbʔaltxʷ Intellectual House

Native Graduation is held on the Friday before UW – Seattle graduation and hosted by Native faculty and Staff who volunteer their time and effort. The UW Office of Minority Affairs & Diversity (OMA&D) Samuel E. Kelly Ethnic Cultural Center (ECC) and wǝɫǝbʔaltxʷ teams work with the volunteer group to ensure full support and a seamless program for celebrating Native graduates.
