Reasoning (RSN):
The intent of this requirement is for students to develop an understanding of the ways in which numeric and/or symbolic data and methods are used to assess the relationships and the validity of ideas.
Specific learning outcomes for any given RSN course may vary, but it is expected that upon successful completion of any RSN course students will be better able to:
- Accurately interpret and critically evaluate presentations of numeric/symbolic information;
and
- Utilize numeric/symbolic information with soundness, accuracy, and precision;
and
- Explain the interpretations, evaluations, and utilization of numeric/symbolic information in conceptual and practical terms.
Many but not all RSN-designated courses also count toward the Arts & Humanities (A&H), Natural Sciences (NSc), or Social Sciences (SSc) Areas of Inquiry (AoI) requirement.
