A new edition of the popular Making Math, Science, and Technology Instruction Accessible to Students with Disabilities development notebook is now available online.

These materials help science, mathematics, technology, and special education educators effectively teach students with disabilities. The goal is for all students to be fully included in courses and programs and, as a result, experience success in STEM academic and career fields.

The content in these materials helps to ensure educators become familiar with universal design principles and accommodation strategies so that they will be better able to ensure that students with disabilities have equal opportunities to participate in their programs. Content includes

  • the rights, potential contributions, and needs of students with disabilities;
  • educators' responsibilities for ensuring equal educational opportunities for all students in their programs; and
  • strategies for accommodating students who have disabilities in science and mathematics classes.

Updating these materials was made possible through the National Science Foundation (NSF) under grant #HRD-0833504. Any opinions, findings, and conclusions or recommendations expressed in this material are those of the author and do not necessarily reflect the views of the NSF.
