Dear Huskies,
As we approach the end of the 2024–2025 academic year, we want to take a moment to applaud your remarkable resilience and celebrate how far you’ve come on your academic and personal journey. As international students, each one of you has successfully navigated the U.S. education system. Many of you have found your own pace and your own path. Additionally, this past year has presented unique challenges. All of us have encountered unexpected changes that were outside our immediate control — from policy shifts to global events impacting your studies. We recognize the strength it takes to stay informed about constantly evolving regulations, reach out to build community in a new environment and care for loved ones across time zones. Many of you have done this while managing financial pressures, housing concern and the everyday challenges of living in a different culture. Your perseverance through these obstacles speaks volumes about your character and determination.
We, the CIRCLE team, want to invite you to join our end-of-year celebration programs designed specifically for international graduate students on May 29 (see event details below). This event will provide space and time to acknowledge your achievements and for you to connect with peers. For international undergraduate students, we are planning for a week of celebration (details to be published soon). Beyond CIRCLE, there are also many department and college-wide celebrations. Mark your calendar to connect with fellow students, faculty mentors and staff in the broader UW community.
Remember, we are immensely proud of how far you have come, and excited for where you will be. Whether you’re graduating or continuing your studies with us next year, please know that you have made a difference by being part of the UW community. The perspectives you bring, the questions you ask, and the connections you forge help create a more vibrant and inclusive learning environment for everyone. The skills you’ve developed — adaptability, cross-cultural communication and resilience — will serve you well in whatever path you choose next.
As always, CIRCLE is here to advocate, engage and support you at UW. Feel free to visit us in 250 Schmitz Hall every Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for office hours. Drop in and talk to a friend!
