Cultural Harvest

About

Welcome to Cultural Harvest, a student-led project at UW that celebrates food, culture, and community.
We believe food is more than nourishment — it’s a story. Through this project, students share food memories, art, videos, and music while learning about food justice, sustainability, and belonging.

UW Cultural Harvest Day will take place on Thursday, May 21, 2026 (2:30–5:00 PM, HUB 145) in celebration of UNESCO’s World Day for Cultural Diversity.

What We Do

We collect and showcase student stories about food and identity. We host workshops on food justice and storytelling, and we’ll celebrate student work during UW Cultural Harvest Day.

Theme:
We invite UW students to share work that reflects a cultural experience connected to food — identity, family, migration, language, place, memory, community, and food justice. “Culture” is defined broadly, and lived experience counts.

Formats welcome:
Writing, visual art, photography, video, music, audio stories, mixed media.

Eligibility and Requirements

To be eligible to participate, you must:
• Be a UW student
• Create work with a cultural theme connected to food
• Submit your work through the Application Portal

Students who submit but do not attend both workshops can still be featured, but will not be eligible for judge-awarded prizes.
