The Early Identification Program Scholars (EIP-Scholars) and the EIP Exploration Scholars are two cohort-based programs offered by the Office of Minority Affairs and Diversity Graduate School Preparatory Services. These programs support undergraduate students exploring the benefits of and interested in applying for graduate degrees, including master’s or doctoral programs.
Exploration Pathway:
For first-year students curious about and invested in exploring what graduate school is and how it might benefit their academic and career journeys. By the end of this 3-quarter-long program, participants will have acquired the knowledge and tools to help determine whether graduate school is a path they wish to pursue.
Eligibility
Open to all first-year University of Washington-Seattle students affiliated with the Office of Minority Affairs & Diversity who have 2 or more years remaining prior to graduation.
-
- Transfer students who have less than 2 years remaining are encouraged to apply for the EIP-Scholars program.
Timeline
- EIP Exploration Scholars commit to a one-year experience (Spring, Fall & Winter Quarters) with the GSPS Scholar Community.
- It is anticipated that an EIP Scholar dedicates ~3 to 5 hours per month.
- At the conclusion of the program, with the guidance of GSPS staff, students may elect to enter the scholar pathway if graduate school remains a goal, apply to be a McNair Scholar, or conclude their experience with EIP.
