At the University of Washington, there are a ton of communities of practice (CoPs) available to you. Here are some of the web-focused ones that you may find useful.
Web Council, lead by the University Marketing & Communications Web Team, is made up of any interested UW employees involved in web work who see the value in coming together to address common web issues— including standards, best practices, templates, systems and marketing.
Join UW-IT’s Accessible Technology Services and other UW web community members in a monthly meetup to discuss accessibility and usability issues in a relaxed setting and provide feedback on each others’ projects.
This group aims to improve the experience of our systems, services, and development efficiency by focusing on the needs of people using those systems and services. Members will learn about and user experience design methods and best practices from peers.
With accessibility and responsive design as common themes, this CoP shares knowledge on front-end web development and technologies. Topics include coding techniques and frameworks, preprocessors, code editors and more.
The WordPress Users Group (WPUG) connects WordPress users across the UW so they can share, support and learn best practices, campus tools and branding guidelines. Great for users of all skill levels.
A community of site administrators, developers, designers and content editors who use Drupal to build web sites and applications at the UW. New members are always welcome.
