OMA&D Announces Second Round of Diversity and Inclusion Seed Grants

Proposals are now being accepted for the second round of 2017-18 Diversity and Inclusion Seed Grants intended to support the work of administrative and academic units across the University of Washington’s tri-campus community that advance the goals of the Diversity Blueprint.

Up to $3,000 will be made available per project for the 2017-18 academic year. Vice President for Minority Affairs & Diversity and Chief Diversity Officer Rickey Hall announced the creation of these new grants last spring. The first round of grant funding was awarded in August.

All UW academic and administrative units at the Seattle, Bothell and Tacoma campuses are eligible to apply. Proposals that include more than one unit and are supported by matching funds from deans, vice presidents or departments/units are encouraged.

The fall application process will close on December 5, 2017. Award notifications will take place in February 2018.

The 2017-2021 Diversity Blueprint was released in January 2017 and is used by academic and administrative units as a framework for guiding the UW toward achieving its stated goals for diversity and inclusion.

The six goals of the Blueprint are: cultivating an inclusive campus climate; attracting, retaining and graduating a diverse and excellent student body; attracting and retaining a diverse faculty; attracting and retaining a diverse staff; assessing tri-campus diversity needs and improving accountability and transparency.
