Dear OMA&D Community,

It gives me great pleasure to announce that Kristian Wiles has been appointed Associate Vice President for Student Success effective July 1. For the past year and a half, Kristian has served as Interim Assistant Vice President for Student Success. Prior to that he served as Executive Director of Retention and Academic Support Programs in the Office of Minority Affairs & Diversity (OMA&D), where he developed strategies with campus leaders that advance university equity goals in academic advising, financial aid, academic support, and other co-curricular experiences.

Kristian has 17 years of higher education experience working with and serving first generation, low-income, American Indian/Alaska Native, and underrepresented minority students. Having served as chair (2018-1019) of the Council for Opportunity in Education, Kristian is regarded as a national leader on access and success for the populations OMA&D serves. The work he has done professionally and personally is a demonstration of his commitment to the OMA&D mission, vision, and values.

As Associate Vice President for Student Success, Kristian will provide strategic leadership, administrative oversight, and work with a talented team of professionals on the planning and designing of programs, services and initiatives that support students and their success. In the role, he will also serve as OMA&D grants approver and manager and continue to serve as the principal investigator on several of our federal grants. I am excited about the wonderful skillset and knowledge that Kristian brings to the OMA&D leadership team.

Thank you to the search advisory committee, especially Paul Rucker, Vice President for Alumni and Stakeholder Engagement, who chaired the committee, for their excellent work that led to the successful conclusion of the search for the role.

Please join me in congratulating Kristian on this new appointment.

Sincerely,

Rickey Hall (he/him)
