Promo Video about Upward Bound

Upward Bound is a college preparation program for first generation and low-income students. With the passage of the Higher Education Act of 1965, the federal government made a major commitment to assure, in the words of President Johnson that “a high school senior can apply to any college or any university in any of the 50 States and not be turned away because his family is poor.” This video is dedicated to Sargent Shriver, founder of the Peace Corps and architect of Lyndon Johnson’s War on Poverty.
