Rodent Services
The DCM provides a number of rodent research resources including providing rodent procedure rooms; imaging; anesthesia vaporizor rental; and veterinary surgery, anesthesia, and analgesia consultation. Rodent procedure rooms are equipped with laminar flow hoods to support rodent surgeries free of charge. However, investigators must sign up and reserve rooms to ensure availability.
Anesthesia machines and vaporizers are also available for rental through AOps.
Specific DCM analgesia guidelines are found here.
Investigators can also obtain training and certification in basic surgical techniques and anesthesia.
The DCM also offers selected imaging modalities for rodents including Optical Imaging and digital x-ray within UW vivariums. For more information, contact veterinary services.
