Welcome and Welcome Back! It is Autumn 2025

In the Loop Newsletter

September 24, 2025

Dear Huskies,

Happy first day of the Fall quarter! You made it! For new huskies, we want to extend our warmest welcome. We got connected with many of you during summer through our Regional Connection Groups for undergraduate students or Summer Engagement Programs for graduate students. It was lovely meeting many of you during the International Welcome Program (IWP). We cannot wait to get to know more about you. For our returning friends, we want to say welcome back! We have missed you and we hope you had a wonderful summer.

As the new quarter begins, we want to reintroduce ourselves. We are CIRCLE (Center for International Relations and Cultural Leadership Exchange), your hub for resources, community, and activities designed to support, engage, and advocate for our international student community. We also work to strengthen cross-culture connections between domestic and international students at the UW. From job hunting tips to learning about local cultures, CIRCLE is here with you every step of your journey. We are physically located in Schmitz Hall, Room 250, where you can drop in any time between 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on weekdays or email us at uwcircle@uw.edu. Please don’t hesitate to reach out! You can also visit our website for additional ways to connect!

We also collaborate with multiple campus partners including Husky Health Center, First Year Programs, and the Graduate School. We work particularly closely with the International Student Services (ISS). As a partner, we will reiterate important messages from ISS to make sure you do not miss key information.

Now that classes are in session, we want to remind you that ISS cannot register your immigration record until you meet enrollment requirements. Please register by Tuesday, Oct. 7th to avoid having your university account put on hold by ISS.

  • Undergraduate students — 12 credits each quarter
  • Graduate students — typically 10 credits each quarter

Remember that you can only register for 1 online course that will be counted towards these required credits. We also encourage you to stay informed of all government updates via the ISS blog page.

Throughout the quarter, you will continue to hear from us biweekly on Wednesdays through our In the Loop newsletters. In these newsletters, we will highlight exciting events hosted by CIRCLE, introduce campus-wide programming and opportunities relevant to our diverse student body, and share resources that can help you thrive at UW and beyond. You can also learn about news and events happening in the greater Seattle area. From public lectures to local arts scenes, from hiking trips to waterfront block parties, we want you to make the most out of your time in Seattle!

Sincerely,

CIRCLE Team
