Distinguished Service Award

Established in 2012, the Distinguished Alumni Veteran Award (DAVA) is given to a living UW alumnus veteran who made a positive impact on the local, national or international community, the University of Washington or the veteran community. Nominations are open to the public.

This year’s honoree

Renowned Husky Band director Brad McDavid is the recipient of this award, in recognition of his decades of service to the UW and the UWAA. Under his leadership, the Husky Band represented the UW on performance tours around the world, weathered the pandemic, and added its signature “Touch of Class” to campus events of all stripes.
