Undergraduate Research Travel Awards
Publicly communicating your own research and sharing your ideas with others are important parts of engaging in academic research.
The Undergraduate Research Travel Award:
- Enables you to extend your research experience by contributing to important discussions of current research at professional conferences; and,
- Provides funding toward travel expenses and registration fees.
Funding for this program is generously provided by the UW's Office
of Research
, the Mary Gates Endowment for Students
, and the Undergraduate
Research Program.
We encourage all students who have a paper, poster, or scholarly creative work that has been accepted for professional presentation to apply for an award.
Application
Applications are taken on a continuing basis and must be submitted at least three weeks prior to departure date.
Regarding funding in advance versus reimbursement of expenses, please note:
- If you are more than six weeks from your departure date, your award (if approved) will allow for partial funding in advance of relevant expenses.
- Whereas, if you are less than six weeks from your departure date, your award (if approved) will more than likely be in the form of a reimbursement for relevant expenses.
