The University of Washington is committed to showing national leadership in tackling the problem of sexual assault on college campuses.
A UW Task Force on Sexual Assault Prevention and Response was formed in 2013 and compiled 18 prioritized recommendations to address the issue. Funding was approved for the first set of steps.
“This will be the year we collectively resolve to end the chronic and abhorrent problem of sexual assault on college campuses, starting with the UW,” then-President Michael K. Young said at the time. “Let us now join together to tackle the problem of sexual assault and show national leadership.”
