Congratulations to University of Washington Educational Talent Search participants Zulen Pantoja-Ortega and Melina Soto for receiving the UW Diversity Scholar Award. The award will provide 45 entering UW freshmen including Pantoja-Ortega and Soto with a scholarship of $10,000 annually, for a total of $40,000, to attend the University of Washington for four years of undergraduate study.
The UW Diversity Scholar Award is privately supported by the generous contributions of numerous individuals, organizations, and local businesses, including Costco and Boeing. Recipients of this scholarship are high-achieving underrepresented minority students who will be entering the University of Washington as freshmen.
Both Pantoja-Ortega and Soto are 2013 Mount Vernon High School graduates and look forward to embarking on their academic pursuits as Huskies this fall.
