HUSKY PAWKET GUIDE

FROM THE DESK OF DR. DENZIL SUITE
UW DIVISION OF STUDENT LIFE

Hello Huskies,

Welcome back! I hope you all had a restful spring break. Spring quarter brings a great deal of excitement to campus: awards ceremonies, research fairs, cultural events and of course, commencement.

For our graduating students, this is an exciting time! But it can also be stressful — especially if you find yourself in a different major or academic status than you had planned. Please know that these kinds of struggles are normal, and if your experience hasn’t matched your (or your family’s) expectations, you’re not alone.

We are here to support you, and we can help you figure out how to communicate about your status and get on a path that lets you meet your goals. Please reach out to the Counseling Center, the University Registrar, CIRCLE or my office.

Have a wonderful quarter, Huskies.

Sincerely,

Denzil

Help shape the UW’s future

The UW has drafted its first strategic plan in almost 15 years, and we need your input to refine and strengthen it! This plan will serve as a comprehensive guide to help us meet new challenges, serve our students and communities, and take advantage of new opportunities.

Please read the current draft and submit any feedback by April 17, 2026. With our community’s feedback, we’ll finalize the plan in spring 2026. We look forward to shaping the next chapter of the University’s extraordinary impact together!

Make a difference during Sexual Assault Awareness Month

Throughout the month, SARVA, LiveWell and campus partners will host a range of events — including a Teal Run, Denim Day Fashion Show, love letters to survivors tabling, a self-defense workshop, candle-making and more — to promote education, support and empowerment.

A featured program is Take Back the Night on April 17 (5–7 p.m. at wǝɫǝbʔaltxʷ – Intellectual House), a powerful event featuring keynote and student speakers, a student-created art exhibit and a candlelight vigil honoring survivors. Dinner will be provided.

Campus Safety

Use a U

Now that it’s warmer out, more Huskies are dusting off their bikes and hitting the trails. But your bike — especially your e-bike — is a target for thieves, and securing it with a cable lock won’t cut it. Instead, use a U lock to connect your bike frame and wheel to a bike rack because they’re tougher to cut or pry open. For e-bikes, you should also lock removable batteries separately.

Visit the UWPD website to learn more and register your bike in case it’s lost or stolen.
