Husky Pawket Guide

From the desk of Dr. Denzil Suite

UW Division of Student Life

Hello Husky,

Yesterday’s midterm elections mean we’ve finally reached the end of a long election season where many candidates espoused competing points of view. But amid all the different opinions and debates, our campus community demonstrated again and again our commitment to respectful dialogue across differences.

One of the hallmarks of the UW is that we welcome open and civil communication across ideological and political lines, and we encourage all members of our community to engage in thoughtful discussions that deepen their understanding of others’ points of view.

Now that the elections are over, I hope you will continue that dialogue. An essential part of your UW education is understanding different perspectives and opinions, so I encourage you to seek out ideas that challenge you and help you engage in the important work of being an informed citizen. Remember: although the elections have ended, the work of civic participation has not.

Sincerely,
Denzil

P.S. UW Family Weekend starts on Friday! There are dozens of events across the two-day event. And don’t miss the chance to show off your UW Libraries knowledge — and win a prize — in their Family Trivia contest!

Husky Experience

Free Food Alert launches

It’s official – Free Food Alert is here!

If you need a snack or a meal, or if your group has extra food leftover after an event, sign up to be part of Free Food Alert and help make sure excess food is put to use.

A partnership between the UW Food Pantry, HFS and Bay Laurel Catering, Free Food Alert reduces food waste from university events by redirecting extra food to the UW community. Together, we can fight food insecurity on campus while making a positive impact on our community and the environment!

Click the button below to sign up to receive notifications for free food giveaways or to learn how to host an event (be sure to use your UW email).
