The 2022 Samuel E. Kelly Distinguished Faculty Lecture was held on Thursday, October 20, 2022. The evening began with a reception for Dr. Mokdad at the stunning Samuel E. Kelly Ethnic Cultural Center (Kelly ECC) with delicious appetizers and community socialization. Attendees gathered at high-top cocktail tables and chatted together until the crowd moved across the street to Alder Hall Auditorium for the main event – the lecture.
Dr. Ali Mokdad engaged the audience with well curated slides, data, stories, and as always his captivating delivery of information. Audience members were treated to a presentation of research that not only brought important topics to light, but also helped frame the current state of population health research in the United States and where we can go from here.
At the end of the lecture, after the Q&A, OMA&D Vice President Rickey Hall presented Dr. Mokdad with a framed and signed print of an original Emile Pitre photograph of the University of Washington campus with UW Medicine in the background.
