Alumni of color and friends gathered to celebrate UW Homecoming with the Office of Minority Affairs & Diversity at the Purple & Gold Tailgate at Safeco Field, Oct. 27.
Guests enjoyed food and beverages, along with the opportunity to mingle with other alumni and friends of all ages. Former Husky football greats Mario Bailey, Sonny Sixkiller and Greg Lewis made appearances, as did Lawyer Milloy, a 2012 Husky Hall of Fame inductee. Dr. Sheila Edwards Lange, Vice President for Minority Affairs and Vice Provost for Diversity, offered welcome remarks.
Raffles were held throughout the evening with items including tickets to performances at UW’s Meany Hall, tickets to a future UW football game and an autographed football. A prize was awarded to the guest wearing the most “spirited” costume.
Following the tailgating festivities, alumni and friends moved across the street to CenturyLink Field and cheered on the Huskies to a 20-17 upset victory over No. 7 Oregon State.
