Sharing and embedding maps and map locations

Our new mapping tool, Concept3D, provides several ways for you to share a map or a map location with your website visitors.

Sharing or embedding a map

To share a map or embed a map on a website, following these instructions:

  1. Visit our map at map.uw.edu
  2. Create the exact view the of the map that you want to share or embed
    For example, let’s create a view of the map that focuses on the Suzzallo Library

  3. Configure the map to your needs using the sidebar on the left of the screen. Options toggled on will be shown on the map you share or embed.
  4. Click the share icon in the top right of the toolbar.

  5. Choose your sharing option: you can share via social media or email, through a QR Code, a link, or an embed that can be copied and pasted onto a website
    For example, you could copy the embed code and paste it into an HTML widget in WordPress to have a map embedded in the sidebar of your website.

Sharing or embedding a location

To share a location or embed a location on a website, following these instructions:

  1. Visit our map at map.uw.edu
  2. In the search bar on the top left, search for the building name you want to share or embed
    For example, let’s search for the Suzzallo Library

  3. From the list of results, click on the building name you want to share or embed; the building information will appear in the sidebar on the left.

  4. Click the share icon above the building name in the sidebar.

  5. Choose your sharing option: you can share via social media or email, through a QR Code, a link, or an embed that can be copied and pasted onto a website
    For example, if we wanted to link to the library, we would copy the link under the “Link to this location” heading: https://map.uw.edu/?id=2099#!m/975267?share
