Research, Service, and Training Interests

Dr. Reyes completed his residency training in DCM in 2014. During his training period, he earned his master’s investigating the role of Folliculin Interacting Protein-1 (FNIP1) in muscle physiology and metabolism. As a senior clinical veterinarian, Dr. Reyes works closely with residents on clinical rotations to assist in developing their approach to clinical cases. He has a special interest in laboratory animal anesthesia techniques and leads the resident anesthesia training rotation as well as the DCM anesthesia service. This service is aimed at providing species and study specific support for researchers with projects requiring anesthesia in large animal models. Dr. Reyes also coordinates the coursework for Comparative Medicine Clinical Conference (CMED 518). As Co-Director of Facilities and Operations, Dr. Reyes provides leadership to the Operations and Husbandry Management Team which oversees operations of multiple large vivaria both on campus and off-site. He also co-coordinates the resident husbandry rotation which provides training for residents in the topics of laboratory animal husbandry and management of associated equipment, staff and facilities.
