The Global State of Washington
In the State of Washington, businesses, universities, non-governmental organizations and research institutes, along with hundreds of civic organizations, are committed to having a positive impact in the world through lowering poverty, improving health, preserving the environment, enhancing rights and security and increasing opportunities for all people.
The University of Washington, Washington State University and the Seattle International Foundation are collaborating to provide an inventory of these state activities, increase awareness about the importance of Washington’s leadership in the emerging global sustainable development sector, and identify innovative and forward looking public-private partnerships.
This project brings Washingtonians together for the purpose of:
- Increasing the effectiveness and impact of our work.
- Growing awareness and support for our work within the state and elsewhere.
- Making the State of Washington an important global center for sustainable development and policy work.
- Contributing to a vibrant State economy, attracting investors, creating jobs, and enhancing the quality of life through our work.
- Offering our students and citizens the opportunities to be “global citizens.”

Global Support Project
The University of Washington (UW) is home to an impressive array of global research, education, and service activities. In order to effectively support these activities, the UW requires an administrative framework that enables global research and education efforts with services that are easy to use, timely, effective and address associated institutional risks.
The Global Support Project was established with campus-wide representation and a goal to identify and implement improved administrative mechanisms to support global work.
