Federal Funding for Research, Nov. 16
The UW’s State Budget, Oct. 26

Restricted party screening now required for visa requests

Federal restrictions limit or prohibit activity with individuals or entities on federal restricted party lists. This impacts various areas across the University as  we engage and transact with many parties, including consultants, customers, and others who carry out work, research or provide goods and services to the UW. Restricted party screening is a step the University takes to prevent the unauthorized transfer of sensitive technologies and materials, play a part in economic and national security efforts, and minimize other risks to the institution.

As of Nov. 2, units are required to perform restricted party screening for all visa requests submitted to the International Scholars Office (ISO) and Continuum College. Additional guidance on restricted parties and how to conduct screenings is available on the UW Research Security webpage. For further assistance, please researchsecurity@uw.edu.

New NIH requirements for acknowledging funding

National Institutes of Health has released new requirements for communicating and acknowledging federal funding. Recipients must acknowledge federal funding when describing projects or programs funded in whole or in part with NIH funds in publications, public statements, papers, posters, press releases and other documents.

Washington residents make up three-quarters of entering class

Nearly four out of 10 incoming students are first generation, and the student body includes residents of 38 of Washington’s 39 counties. Get the official enrollment numbers from all three campuses.

Navigating AI use in the classroom
