A short guide to the RCEP process at the UW: submit the request form, then follow the outlined steps through provost review, committee input, and (if needed) faculty petition or Regents sign off.
Note: Reorganization, consolidation, and elimination of a program (RCEP) procedures are found in Section 26-41 of the Faculty Code.
Complete and submit the form (UW NetID required)
Remember to include the contact list of impacted faculty and any other supporting documentation. Upload or send to provost@uw.edu and rachelno@uw.edu.
Next steps
Here are the next steps once you’ve submitted the RCEP form.
- The provost determines if the request is ready for review by the Senate Committee for Planning and Budgeting (SCPB).
- SCPB will advise the provost if the request should proceed as a Limited RCEP or a Full RCEP.
- Upon provost approval to proceed with Limited RCEP, the Secretary of the Faculty will send email to all impacted voting faculty opening the petition window for 20 instructional days.
- If no petition, requester will be notified and directed to submit an item for Regents approval to Jason Johnson jej@uw.edu.
- If petition is requested, we will begin the Full RCEP process: Section 26-41 C.
Once approved by Regents, Office of the Provost will generate an approval letter to the unit and all RCEP partners.
