On April 22, look for an email from yourvoice@uw.edu announcing that the survey is live. There will be additional communications from the University and potentially from your unit during the open period, April 22–May 22.
You can take the survey at any time from April 22 through May 22, 2025, at yourvoiceyouruw.org.
The survey is compatible with most desktop and mobile browsers. You will need to have JavaScript updated and enabled.
Most people will be able to complete the survey in approximately 20–30 minutes.
The Campus Climate Survey is confidential, and participants will not be asked to provide any directly identifiable information.
Employees who do not have access to a computer during their normal work routine can request access to a computer and time to take the survey from their unit supervisor.
If you need to step away, be sure to keep the browser window on your computer or mobile device open until you complete the full survey — your responses will be lost if your computer goes to sleep or your web connection is broken.
Confidentiality and data security
Because of the sensitive and personal topics discussed, confidentiality is vital to the success of campus climate research.
Participation is completely voluntary. The decision to participate or decline is yours alone, and opting out will not have any adverse impacts on your employment and/or academic record.
You do not have to answer every question. You can skip any questions you’re uncomfortable answering, with the exception of two questions: your primary role (e.g., student or employee) and your campus. And there’s a content alert before the section on experiences of sex-based and gender-based violence, harassment or discrimination.
The survey includes questions about potentially triggering subjects, including sex-based and gender-based violence, harassment or discrimination and experiences of bias. At the end of the survey, you’ll be provided links to resources for assistance and support.
To protect the integrity of the project and make sure only UW students and employees can reply, participants will be required to sign in using their UW NetID to access the survey. However, survey responses will be disconnected from NetIDs through a process that uses encryption to scramble NetID data — so there will be no way to identify who has responded to the survey.
Individual responses cannot be identified. Research scientists in the Office of Educational Assessment will analyze and report the results of the Campus Climate Survey only in aggregate.
