 Janice DeCosmo, Associate Dean and Associate Vice Provost for Undergraduate Research

Janice DeCosmo

In addition to her leadership roles in Undergraduate Academic Affairs, Janice DeCosmo is an affiliate faculty member in the Department of Earth and Space Sciences at the University of Washington. DeCosmo developed the UW undergraduate research program and directs the Mary Gates Endowment for Students. She is also involved in higher education policy in the state of Washington, focused on undergraduate studies and new academic programs (through the Council of Presidents), and transfer articulation from two-year to four-year institutions. DeCosmo is the 2019–20 president of the Council on Undergraduate Research. She oversees the UW’s Center for Experiential Learning and Diversity, which includes undergraduate research, service learning, leadership and scholarship programs.

Jason Johnson, Senior Associate Dean and Associate Vice Provost

Jason Johnson

Jason Johnson’s primary role is to support the overall administrative leadership of UAA, including consulting on key budgetary and personnel decisions, assisting with unit-wide policy development, preparing reports and coordinating work toward UAA’s five-year priorities. He also facilitates the creation of new UAA projects, including the equity, diversity and inclusion council and the curricular commons innovation fund. Johnson co-chairs the UW’s campus climate study working group and the faculty senate’s task force on teaching evaluation. He also serves on the UW’s privacy and accreditation steering committees and represents UAA in reviewing undergraduate-serving degree programs. Previously, Johnson was a professor at The George Washington University and West Virginia University and is currently an affiliate professor in the UW’s College of Education.

Michaelann Jundt, Associate Dean

Michaelann Jundt

Michaelann Jundt built her career at the University of Washington, having previously served as director of both New Student Programs and the Carlson Leadership & Public Service Center. Jundt has been instrumental in transforming the campus conversation surrounding service-learning education, advocating for transfer students and convening the UW’s leadership education opportunities into the Husky Leadership Program. Jundt is committed to scaling programs to be accessible and effective for the UW’s diverse student population. In her current role, she oversees Student Academic Support Programs and the Community Engagement and Leadership Education team. She continues to work across campus to evolve programs and improve systems for students of all backgrounds and remains committed to building partnerships across units.

Nanette Rosenthal, Administrator

Nanette Rosenthal

Nanette Rosenthal began her career at the University of Washington in 2000, and has worked in the areas of finance, human resources, grants administration and general operations in the Colleges of Engineering and Education as well as UAA. Her primary role is to provide direction and oversight, set policy and procedure and advise the dean on unit-wide administration and operations. Current priorities include coordination of efforts on UAA’s strategic plan and leading the unit towards UW Financial Transformation readiness. She also serves as building coordinator and safety director for Mary Gates Hall.
