Arts Roundup: A trio, a quartet, and a chamber recital

It’s a musical week here at the UW!  Attend the faculty-student chamber recital and performances by the Escher String Quartet and the Evergreen Trio.

 

Undergraduate Theater Society: New Works Festival

7:30 p.m., January 27 through January 29 | Hutchinson Hall Cabaret Theater

A long standing UTS tradition, the New Works Festival highlights work shopping new scripts, putting new work on its feet, and giving undergrads opportunities they can’t find elsewhere.  All three plays featured will have been written by, directed by, and performed by undergraduates in our community. More info.

7:30 p.m., January 30 | Meany Theater

Faculty artist Tekla Cunningham (violin) and guest artist Janet See (classical violin) are joined by UW Music students and faculty in this classical (period instrument) program of music by Mozart, Mendelssohn, and others, arranged for quartets and quintets. More info.

Escher String Quartet

7:30 p.m., February 1 | Meany Theater

The Escher String Quartet has received acclaim for its profound musical insight and rare tonal beauty. The program will include the works of Beethoven, Webern, and Debussy.  More info.

Evergreen Trio

Scholarship Chamber Group: Evergreen Trio

7:30 p.m., February 2 | Brechemin Auditorium

Co-winners of the School of Music’s 2016 Strings and Piano Chamber Competition, the Evergreen Trio, coached by faculty cellist Sæunn Thorsteinsdóttir, features the musical talents of  Natalie Ham, flute; Vijay Chalasani, viola, and Lauren Wessels, harp. More info.
