How to apply

Searching and applying for jobs

Refine your job search. Use the Job Family dropdown to see all jobs in defined career fields. You can then further refine your results by using other filters or adding a keyword search.

Looking for temporary opportunities? Enter “temporary” in the search box. Consider applying to the UTemp requisition to be considered for a broad range of temporary job opportunities – just search for the keyword “UTemp.”

A note about search results: The search feature doesn’t rank results by relevancy. Instead, it pulls in any job that uses the word you searched for as long as it appears somewhere in the job description.

How to begin

After you’ve found a job you’re interested in, select the Apply button. You’ll be provided three options for starting your application:

  • Autofill with Resume: The system will automatically fill in some of your education and work history once you upload your resume. You’ll still need to review each field for accuracy and make updates as needed.
  • Apply Manually: You’ll fill in your education and work history yourself. While you’ll still upload your resume at the end of the process, completing your application manually allows you more control over what to include in each section.
  • Use My Last Application: The system will automatically populate your education and work history from your last UW application (if available). You’ll still want to review each field to make sure your information is up to date and still accurate.

Create or sign into your account

Once you’ve selected how to apply, you’ll be asked to create an account – or sign into your existing account if you’ve applied through UW’s Workday Recruiting system before.

Tip: If you’ve created an account previously, find the “Sign In” link at the top right of the Careers at UW page.

Complete and submit your application

Once you’ve signed into your account, you’ll be asked to:

  • Provide your contact information.
  • Enter or review and update your education and work experience – this may include copying and pasting information from your resume into the system.
    • Important: To be considered, your application must meet all Required Qualifications listed on the job posting.
  • Upload your resume and any requested materials, like a cover letter or writing samples – be sure to check the job description carefully so you don’t miss anything.
  • Complete any required assessment, such as work authorization and demographic questionnaires.

Before you finish, carefully review all sections to make sure everything looks accurate and complete. You will not be able to edit your application in Workday once you submit it. If you have made an error, you can “delete your application” from the Candidate Home tab and re-apply with your updated information.

Don’t forget to select the Submit button to ensure your application is received!
