Hazing undermines these values, harms our community, and can have lasting negative impacts on both individuals and organizations. Preventing hazing requires a shared commitment to working together to create a safe and respectful environment across the UW community. As part of the University’s commitment to eliminating hazing, all employees are required to complete annual hazing prevention training. The Office of Community Standards & Student Conduct (CSSC) is responsible for leading the UW’s hazing prevention efforts, investigating reports of alleged hazing, and ensuring compliance with state and federal requirements related to hazing reporting and transparency. Your unit will share additional information about the required training, including completion deadlines, in the coming weeks. It is important to note that UW employees are mandatory reporters (RCW 28B.10.907). If you learn that hazing behavior has occurred, there are multiple ways to make a report to the University, including anonymously, through our partnership with RealResponse (funded by the Student Technology Fee). You can also submit a report to CSSC through the online reporting form. Across the nation, the University of Washington represents the gold standard in hazing prevention efforts and investigation methods.
