If videos are provided in Canvas courses, they must be captioned if students have a need for captions as an accommodation. However, all videos should be captioned as standard practice since they provide many benefits for a wide variety of users. For details about the benefits of captions, see our Captions page. You will also find details there about how to add captions to videos that are hosted outside of Canvas, such as YouTube, Vimeo, or Panopto.
