Professional Staff Organization


You can participate in the PSO in a variety of ways:

  • Join a standing committee or temporary work group.
  • Volunteer at an annual meeting.
  • Be a PSO representative to a faculty or university committee.
  • Attend a staff get-together.
  • Become a board member.

We have something for everyone!

2017-2019 PSO Board process

Serve on the Board of Directors (2 year), President (1 year), Vice President (1 year), or Secretary (1 year).

  • Nominations are now open until April 19.
  • Email goes out to all professional staff to vote on April 24 and will be open through May 12.
  • New board members notified on May 15.

2017 elections have closed. Meet the new board members in August.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Attend 1 day PSO Board Member Retreat in August
  • Attend monthly board meetings from September-June
  • Support various PSO events and programs


  • Meet and network with other professional staff across campuses (Seattle, Bothell, Tacoma, Harborview)
  • Hear from UW departments and administrators on topics that impact professional staff
  • Participate in Faculty Councils as PSO representatives
  • Develop skills to advocate for professional staff on topics such benefits, salary, recognition, etc.
