Bayta Maring, Assistant Director of OEA, has provided professional evaluation services for a wide variety of education-related projects since January 2004. She has filled the role of evaluator on a number of large-scale NSF-funded grants focusing on STEM education and outreach (CAEE and CMOP) and on several projects related to recruitment and retention of under-represented students in higher education (UW State GEAR UP and IMSD). Since 2008, Bayta has coordinated evaluation and assessment for the eight USED-funded National Resource Centers housed within the UW Jackson School of International Studies. She received her Ph.D. in psychology from the University of Oregon in 2003. While there, Bayta worked under the Tom and Carol Williams Grant for Innovative Teaching on a project designed to overhaul Psychology 201, contributing to the development, implementation, and evaluation of an innovative, hands-on version of introductory psychology in large classrooms.
